an activity-based

Curriculum

Launching in September 2022, our bilingual Early Years setting will offer an activity-based curriculum delivered in both Chinese and English for pupils aged 3 to 6 years.

The curriculum will integrate the best practices from the Chinese and British education systems to prepare children for Grade 1 and beyond. Seamless interdisciplinary education will be intertwined with an introduction to core critical skillsets.

Pupils in the Early Years will develop self-regulation within a culture of inquiry that will build strong foundations for learning in all areas. Playing and exploring, active learning and creative thinking will be central to the Early Years curriculum, both within and beyond the classroom.

Approach to bilingual learning

To support bilingual learning, each age group will be split into two classes and will be taught by one Chinese teacher and one international teacher, with additional support from a life teacher. This approach will allow teachers from both east and west to collaborate closely on academic planning, the delivery of the curriculum and the development of each child’s English and Chinese language skills.
