Victory for KCS! Students Shine in the ASDAN Business Competition!

This past weekend was a special one for Dipont KCS Chengdu. Two student teams representing our school stood out at the regional Asian Business Simulation, winning multiple major awards. Business Excellence Award for Best Pitching Team. Best Deal Team in the auction round. Best Poster Award. And most impressively, the Best Operations Award – placing first among all 16 teams!

Behind these shining moments on stage lies weeks of hard work—countless late nights perfecting their presentations, repeated brainstorming and revisions, and the trust and synergy built through team collaboration. It’s this growth through challenge that makes the experience so meaningful.

01.What is the Asdan Business Simulation?
Organized by ASDAN China, this highly competitive event immerses students in real-world business scenarios over two intense days. Working in teams of 6–8, students form “companies” and must navigate multiple challenges:• Operations: making strategic decisions in a competitive market to maximize profits
• Pitching: presenting sustainable business ideas to “investors”
• Debate: defending their business model under pressure from judges
• Auction: negotiating deals on raw materials and propertyThe company with the highest final assets takes the win.

02.Preparation: Weeks of Dedication

From two weeks out, students entered a fast-paced prep schedule. With guidance from our teachers, they explored everything from cost structures and profit models to the 4Ps of marketing and pitch delivery techniques. We also invited an official Asdan trainer to run a mock simulation, helping students get familiar with the system and avoid technical slip-ups.Through debates (even over the order of pitch slides), shared brainstorming, and constant practice, teams built a strong foundation of cooperation and mutual understanding. Each member played to their strengths—content writing, visual design, presentation flow—leading to clearly defined roles and seamless teamwork.

03.Innovation with a Social Focus: SUP for Good

This year’s challenge theme was the Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP), with a twist—solutions had to align with one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.• Company 8 focused on Quality Education, designing an innovative SUP product that combined learning and sport.
• Company 9 targeted Reduced Inequality, crafting an inclusive product and business model to empower underserved communities. The night before the competition, both teams held a joint online meeting, working late into the night fine-tuning their slides and pitch—everyone gave it their all.

04.High Stakes, Big Moments

In the thick of competition, Company 8 hit a rough patch—cash flow issues and halted production nearly drove them out. But with swift strategic adjustments and an excellent pitch performance, they bounced back and climbed the rankings. Their ops team showed incredible analytical thinking and adaptability.Meanwhile, Company 9 maintained strong, steady progress throughout, eventually taking first place overall for total assets. Special shout-out to Fly and David Li, whose financial planning and resource management were truly CEO-level.

Both teams shone not only in strategy but also in communication and creativity.
Company 8 took home the Best Pitch and Best Poster awards with their compelling ideas and stunning visuals.
During the fiery Q&A, judges didn’t hold back—but our students impressed with their calm, articulate responses and clear logic, displaying exceptional business acumen and confidence.

05.A Sweet Celebration
After the event, a small cake marked our big win—a moment not just of pride, but of reflection and growth.
Each student, each role, each decision was part of a journey from classroom to boardroom, from theory to real-world application. This Asdan experience is just the beginning of their journey in business and leadership. Wherever they go next, the lessons learned and bonds built will be part of the spark that drives them forward.

Congratulations once again to our champions! We can’t wait to see you shine on even bigger stages.
