On October 8, Dipont KCS Chengdu warmly welcomed Karl Gross and John Galloway from King’s College School, Wimbledon, along with Mr. Zhang Bowen, President, and Ms. Zhu Feiyi, Vice President of Dipont Education Group. Their visit focused on reviewing recent campus developments and discussing teaching philosophies to further strengthen collaboration. This visit underscores Dipont’s commitment to the Chengdu school and sets higher academic expectations.
Founded in 1829 under a royal charter from King George IV, King’s College School, Wimbledon is among the UK’s leading private schools. According to The Times, it consistently ranks within the top ten private schools nationwide. Dipont KCS Chengdu is the third collaborative school with KCS Wimbledon in China, following Wuxi and Hangzhou, both established in 2018. Since its opening, the Chengdu campus has experienced rapid enrollment growth and strong performance in competitions. Headmaster Anne Cotton remarked: “In China, our goal is not to replicate another King’s College School but to create a new educational model by blending the best of Eastern and Western education.”
School Interview
After the campus tour, Karl Gross and John Galloway engaged in a student-led interview session. Jocelyn, Vice President of the Student Council, raised questions about student roles in school management and how to encourage wider participation. Karl emphasized that student involvement is vital—not only for improving the school environment but also for preparing young people for university and beyond.
Marcus Chou, a Grade 9 student, discussed the differences between Chinese and Western education with Mr. Galloway. He noted that international education allows cultures to meet, balancing academic excellence with holistic student development. Both advisors highlighted the importance of technology in fostering critical thinking, adaptability, and self-confidence in today’s fast-paced world.
School Meeting
A meeting was then held to discuss academic goals and development priorities for the year. The conversation centered on strengthening teaching quality, refining the curriculum, and improving student competencies. Participants shared perspectives and explored practical ways to support student learning and well-being.
Future initiatives, resource allocation, and opportunities for both academic and extracurricular growth were also discussed. Together, Dipont KCS Chengdu and the KCS Wimbledon advisors aim to establish clear goals and create a supportive environment for personalized development within a holistic education framework.
KCS Family
The visit concluded with a meeting between Karl, John, and Dipont KCS Chengdu students preparing for exchange at King’s College School Wimbledon. The students introduced themselves, shared their expectations, and expressed excitement for the upcoming experience.
This exchange also provided an opportunity for Chengdu students to connect with peers from other KCS campuses worldwide, including Bangkok and Monaco, fostering cultural understanding and strengthening the sense of belonging to the wider KCS family.
